IslandWaves

This is one of Felix Flandez

seascape series.He began

painting the waves of Boracay,

while he was strolling the

seaside of this beautiful

island during the high tides

in the late 80's. Most of the

subjects here are the west

cove rocks and the natural

cliffs. As we could notice,

Felix have shown movement

of the waves,rushing to the

rock formations, the water

seems to be in full motion

while racing along with each

other. In some aspect, he

created some truly specta

cular paintings of seascapes

that capture the shimmering

essence of the tumultuous

waters and the beautiful face

of the sea. His graceful waves

and calm ripples are identically

effective, which replicate both

the intensity and motion, as

well as the transparency of the

subject. He also playswith the

blue colors, simulating the

effects of light to the waters

that reflects the magical

realism in watercolor painting.
